DAMN YANKEES
By Richard Adler and Jerry Ross
Directed by RichardKlautsch
Choreographed by Marla Hansen
March 6-8 at 7:30pm; March 9 at 2:00pm, Morrison Center Main Hall

Damn Yankees offers a new twist to the legend of Faust when a middle-aged baseball fan sells his soul to the Devil, aka Mr. Applegate, for the chance to play for the Washington Senators. Transformed into a young man, this over-eager fan’s dreams are soon fulfilled when he finds himself leading the team in both hitting and pitching. But there is a price to be paid, and the Devil and his seductive assistant Lola are waiting to collect…
It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone.  You count on it, rely on it to buffer the passage of time, to keep the memory of sunshine and high skies alive, and then just when all
the days are all twilight, when you need it the most, it stops. It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart.
